New Leadership in the 4th District

We stand today at an important crossroad in our nation's history. Daily we are reminded of the challenges in our economy, our relationships with other countries, our individual struggles with adequate health care and living expenses, and the need to balance our existence with the planet's resources which we all share.

The last few years have clearly shown us a need for a new direction in the 21st century, one in which each of us can find common cause. We must develop new solutions to chart this direction. As in earlier times of need, the nation will turn to Democrats in Congress for this direction, and to provide the necessary solutions.

It is time for new leadership in the 4th Congressional District of South Carolina. It is time for someone who can work with all members of Congress to provide a responsive government for the citizens, and restore America's leadership role in the world. I invite you to join me in providing this leadership; not only for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren.
